$22 million: price for APS 'extras'.(Afternoon)

The savings would be more than $22 million, but school officials say they aren't about to lay off the 544 employees paid those dollars.

A salary list for assistant principals, counselors, librarians, nurses and physical education teachers was presented Monday to the Albuquerque Board of Education's Finance Committee.

What the committee and the full board will do with the list hasn't been decided.

The board is preparing to build its budget early for next school year because an $8 million to $10 million shortfall is already projected.
