This game was never about La Cueva's defense, the margin of victory or the trampling of Clovis.
Saturday's state Class 5A championship game was about Highland in '65, Mayfield in '71, Clovis in '90 or Las Cruces in '99.
These 2004 Bears now dance with the state's best teams of all time after cruising to their second consecutive state Class 5A championship with a 40-0 win Saturday over Clovis at Leon Williams Stadium.
