Dec. 6--Wilf Blackburn sees himself as a sensitive sort or a person who dislikes confrontation and prefers to achieve solutions by listening and seeking harmony.
His personality may seem at odds with the local perceptions of managers with Western backgrounds, who are generally seen as open, direct, more focused on tasks and less sensitive to the feelings of others.
But it was this difference that prompted the German insurer Allianz to choose the British executive to head Ayudhya Allianz C.P. Life (AACP), the local joint venture, and patch up the differences among the company's senior management and sales force.
