A GP telephoned us recently about the possibility of making his practice manager a partner. She has expressed great interest and because they don't want to risk losing her, they are inclined to accede to her idea.

This idea has become increasingly popular since the new regulations came into effect. However, there are a number of issues to be addressed and understood in order to make a success of it.

After further discussion, it soon became apparent that the practice manager wished to assume the 'status' of partner without being exposed to any risk. We explained that the best way to achieve this would be to make her a salaried partner.
