Dec. 4--After years of taking a hard line against movie pirates, including international trade sanctions, police seizures and private surveillance measures, Hollywood filmmakers are now applying a softer touch, including public awareness campaigns aimed at building up social pressure against illegal copying.
The move reflects a new strategy by the California-based Motion Picture Association (MPA), whose members include film giants such as Sony, Paramount and Twentieth Century Fox, to fight with piracy worldwide.
