Dec. 3--In light of expected higher local diesel prices and interest rates, economic growth for 2005 is projected to expand only 5.5-6 percent, down from an estimated 6.3 percent this year, according to the Centre for Economic and Business Forecasting at University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
Director Thanavath Phonvichai said there were several unfavourable factors that would curb economic expansion next year, such as the inevitable rise in local diesel prices by about 2-4 baht a litre, up from the current capped price of 14.59 baht.
