Dec. 2--Oishi Group Plc is setting its sights on the local high-end Japanese restaurant business with the introduction of a new brand which it hopes will lure diners away from similar establishments in deluxe hotels.

The group last Friday launched its first fine dining buffet restaurant, Oishi Grand, at the Siam Discovery shopping complex.

"We want Oishi Grand to become the best Japanese restaurant in the minds of Thai consumers within one year," said Paisarn Aowsathaporn, the company's new director of operations, who is in charge of the group's restaurant businesses.
