As the semiconductor industry moves to ever smaller chips, it needs better testing equipment.
One company that can help is FormFactor, which makes advanced semiconductor wafer probe cards.
Probe cards are connectors. They link the wafer -- basically, an uncut disk of semiconductor chips -- to testing equipment.
"(FormFactor is) by far the leader in technology in the space," said Mark Bachman, analyst with Pacific Crest Securities.
Unlike traditional probe cards, which use metal needles to touch the wafer and test for a signal, FormFactor's technology uses tiny metal microsprings to do the job.
"The microspring contacts are able to get better signal quality, so they can do higher speed testing," said analyst Edward White of Lehman Bros.
