Dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster ranked the term, referring to online personal journals that are giving traditional media a run for their money, as the most researched term on its site this year. The next most researched words in this election year were incumbent and electoral. No. 10 was defenestration, which refers to throwing a person or thing out of a window, which was the winner in Merriam-Webster's "What's Your Favorite Word?" online survey.
