Dec. 2--RICS, the London-based international institution of surveyors, is trying to strengthen its foothold in the Asia-Pacific region by creating more public awareness and recognition of the value of surveying professionalism, according to the chairman of the RICS Asia Pacific Board, Sing Cheong Liu.

The 134-year-old, non-profit Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors now has RICS as its global brand name. It has around 110,000 members, of whom 6,000 are in 16 countries in Asia-Pacific.
