New bank licenses due in two weeks, Thai finance minister says.

Dec. 2--The Finance Ministry expects to rule on the approval of some new bank licence applications within two weeks, according to Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.
He said the Bank of Thailand had already proposed two or three applications for review, with others expected to follow over the next few months.
Local and foreign banks over the past year have been required to submit operation plans and new licence applications to meet conditions set out under the new financial master plan.
Several institutions have applied to upgrade their finance company and credit foncier licences to banking licences, ...
