Dec. 2--Mergers and operational integration will be the name of the game for Thailand's entertainment industry next year as companies struggling to deal with fiercer competition, analysts said yesterday.
The trend was evident with the merger this year between the country's two largest cinema operators, Major Cineplex Group Plc and EGV Entertainment Plc.
The merged entity's market share is expected to rise to 80 percent next year from 70 percent this year but more importantly, there will be savings on operating costs, said Kongkiat Opaswongkarn, the president of Asia Plus Securities.
