Dec. 2--CUSTOMS REFORM DEADLINE: Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has given the Customs Department one year to clean up its operations and clamp down on corruption.
"With help, within one year we should see clear results from the campaign," he said, adding that anyone who continued to encounter problems should file a complaint with the ministry's 1332 and 1689 telephone hotlines.
Dr Somkid yesterday presented certificates to 100 companies participating in the anti-corruption campaign with the department. Companies such as the CP Group, General Motors and DHL have all pledged to not offer bribes to officials to help expedite clearance procedures.
