U.S.: Pakistan not leaving border

Pakistan denied reports it withdrew troops from a tribal area near the Afghan border, a suspected hideout for al-Qaida leaders, the State Dept. said. According to a Pakistani military spokesman over the weekend, soldiers left the main town in the troubled South Waziristan district after months of bloody offensives against militants.
