Dec. 1--The Sahaviriya Group has asked the government to give full support to its 700-billion-baht iron smelter project by quickly approving an environmental impact study.
Wit Viriyaprapaikit, the group's founder and chief executive, said the study would be conducted once the project received Board of Investment (BoI) privileges.
The company plans to submit an application to the BoI in the next few weeks.
"The project is worth nearly 700 billion baht. I don't think it should be granted the privileges in the same ways as other projects," Mr Wit said without elaborating.
