Dec. 1--IPSTAR DEAL WITH HANOI: Shin Satellite Plc said yesterday that its subsidiary, iPSTAR Co, had signed a contract with a state-owned telecoms operator in Vietnam to provide broadband satellite services.
Vietnam Telecom International (VTI), a wholly owned unit of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications, would set up a gateway station at Hanoi, expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2005, Shin Satellite said without giving financial details of the contract.
Shin Satellite (SATTEL) said earlier this month that it had signed contracts worth $238 million with clients to use the new iPSTAT broadband satellite, which is scheduled to be launched in March.
