Nov. 30--Lynchburg-area people who are at high risk for complications of the flu but haven't been able to get the shot may soon have another chance -- this time from their own doctors.
The Virginia Department of Health announced Monday it has ordered another 98,000 doses of the flu vaccine and anticipates they will arrive within the next two weeks.
"We will be distributing it through the local physicians' offices," said Dr. Katherine V. Nichols, director of the Central Virginia Health District. "We do not have them in hand right now."
Nichols said she expects to receive between 3,000 and 4,000 doses.
