Venezuela: Locking Up Liberty

Venezuelan stability took another big hit as a car bomb exploded in Caracas on Thursday night, killing a state prosecutor pursuing several cases against opponents of President Hugo Chavez for their alleged involvement in a 2002 failed coup. The government hinted at the involvement of Florida-based terrorist groups and demanded action from Washington to curb their activities. And as tensions mounted, fears of a return to violence enveloped the country.
