NACCO Industries Inc. is a holding company that has four major operating subsidiaries. Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc. designs, manufactures and markets forklift trucks and related service parts under the Hyster and Yale brand names. Hyster-Yale acquired the Hyster Co., a longtime Portland-based company, for about $620 million in May 1989. Its corporate headquarters, a technical test center, and a tooling and prototype production plant are in Portland.
