WASHINGTON--Mayor Hector Luis Acevedo said he wants the Puerto Rico Legislature to make a statutory commitment to the Tren Urbano light rail transportation system proposed for the San Juan metropolitan area.

After testifying April 29 before the House Appropriations Transportation Subcommittee to seek funding for the Tren Urbano project, the San Juan mayor said Subcommittee chairman William Lehman (D., Fla.), who is retiring from Congress this year, accepted his invitation to address a seminar which he is planning to hold June 15 in San Juan on transportation in the year 2000.
