A decade or so ago, Dr. William Sasser took some time to rethink things. The result of that process ultimately led the Mount Pleasant periodontist across the globe to provide dental care to those who otherwise would go without.

"I felt God was kind of moving in my heart to really look at what success was all about," he said. "I made a more serious commitment to follow my religious beliefs."

Sasser now makes several trips each year to places such as Central and South America and Africa, where he performs emergency dental care and other work.

He recently went to work in Haiti, and soon will head to Rwanda. Some of the …
