Nov. 6--Cox Communications Inc., the region's largest cable television provider, plans to raise the price of its most popular service by 3.5 percent -- marking at least six years in a row that rates have increased.
The standard package of 68 channels will cost $41.29 a month, up from $39.90. Customers will see the increase on their next bills starting Nov. 15.
The last rate boost for the standard package, which combines the Cox Limited tier of mostly local network channels with Expanded service, came Dec. 1 when it went up $1.30, or 3.4 percent. With the new rate, the cost for the standard package has grown by $7.14, or 21 percent, since 2000.
