Nov. 5--Full details on how the government plans to finance hundreds of billions of baht in new infrastructure investments over the next several years have yet to be announced.

Policymakers at the Finance Ministry insist that the projects, aimed at upgrading the nation's basic infrastructure, easing logistics bottlenecks and laying the foundation for future growth, will not lead to an explosion in public debt.

Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak recently signalled that the programmes could be financed through asset securitisation, where bonds are issued to raise funds and repaid through future earnings.
