Nov. 5--Thai air-conditioner manufacturers have called on the government to cancel a new excise tax collection method which has raised costs, according to Kreetha Theinlikit, president of the air-conditioner industry club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
The manufacturers also have asked the government to rethink the excise tax structure for home air-conditioners, saying the new structure has hurt the competitiveness of the local industry.
The FTI submitted its request to the Finance Ministry last week.
