Nov. 4--KGI Securities plans to introduce securities borrowing and lending services for retail investors later this month.

SBL, or short-selling, has been widely available to institutional investors.

Under the strategy, investors borrow and sell securities now with the obligation to return them at a future date.

If the market price of the securities declines in the interim, the investor reaps a profit by being able to repurchase the securities at a lower price.
