Retailing behemoth Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has taken some giant steps toward a fall opening of two Niagara Falls stores.
The nation's largest deep discounter bought two parcels in the Town of Niagara and Niagara Falls and received building permits from local officials to start construction of a Wal-Mart store and a Sam's Wholesale Club.
Wal-Mart officials declined comment on the stores but real estate sources said they should be open by November.
According to documents filed May 1 in the Niagara County clerk's office, Wal-Mart purchased land totaling 25 acres on Porter Road for $1.176 million.
