Nov. 2--Turmoil at Affordable Residential Communities, the nation's largest owner of manufactured-home developments, continued Monday with the sudden and immediate resignation of the company's president and chief operating officer.

The Denver-based company, a real estate investment trust, or REIT, that owns and manages about 70,000 home sites in 31 states, is trying to bounce back from a series of missteps since its initial public offering in February.
