Oct. 31--The region received good news about its flu vaccine supplies yesterday, with both the local Veterans Affairs office and the state Department of Health saying they have received many of the shots they initially ordered.
Previously, the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System had received only 2,670 of the 18,000 vaccine doses it had ordered from Aventis Pasteur, currently the only supplier of flu shots to the United States. As a result, the local VA delayed its walk-in flu shot clinic.
But a large supply of vaccine arrived Friday, and the local VA has about 16,800 doses, said Dave Cowgill, spokesman for the VA Pittsburgh…
