Byline: MARILYN MUCH
When American Medical in May got regulatory approval on new treatments for pelvic floor defects in women, it added a potent weapon to its arsenal of health products.
The company makes treatments for incontinence, impotence and other pelvic disorders in men and women.
Its latest products are designed to repair two types of pelvic organ prolapse, which is a dropping or sagging of any pelvic organ into or through the vaginal canal.
One new product, called Apogee Vaginal Vault System, is a system designed to repair vaginal vault prolapse, a condition that affects the vaginal wall.
A second product, called Perigee Cystocele Repair System, treats bladder prolapse.
Both systems are designed to deliver better outcomes for patients and cut operating room time when compared to traditional abdominal and laparoscopic surgical techniques.
