** Drug-releasing contact lenses have been developed by nanoengineers in Singapore, reports the New Scientist. The lenses are designed to treat eye diseases like glaucoma in a better manner than drops, where much of the drug escapes the eye.

** Human face transplants have been approved by the Cleveland Clinic for treating individuals severely disfigured by burns or disease. The treatment will use skin and underlying fat from an organ donor for the transplant. But the clinic warns of a 50% failure rate.
