Nov. 2--Motorists in Bangkok can now save 75 satang per litre if they fill their tanks with gasohol instead of 95 octane petrol, as part of the government's effort to promote more usage of alternative fuels.
Earlier, the price of gasohol, a mixture of 10 percent crop-derived ethanol and 90 percent gasoline, was 50 satang per litre cheaper than premium petrol.
The new price was made possible after the government decided to cut the excise tax on petrol and the levy required to be contributed to the state oil fund and lift the value-added tax on gasohol, said Energy Minister Prommin Lertsuridej.
