NYSE stocks ticked up Friday in lower volume, capping a bullish week. The Dow and S&P 500 both rose 0.2% for the day, while the small-cap S&P 600 eased 0.1%.
For the week, the S&P 500 gained 3.1%, the S&P 600 3%, the Dow 2.8% in slightly lower weekly volume.
Florida Rock Industries gapped up 2.20 to 51.65 on more than twice its normal trade. The producer and provider of gravel, crushed stone and sand to construction-related clients hit an all-time high.
Chicago Mercantile Exchange advanced 1.98 to 175.73 in brisk turnover. The marketplace provider for agricultural futures and stock indexes soundly beat third-quarter earnings estimates last week. The stock was featured in Friday's NYSE Stocks In The News.
