BASF expects to increase sales at its pharmaceutical finishing services business, including tablet and formulation activities, by almost 10% this year and annually for the next few years, from a "substantial" base, says Patrick Glaser, director/Pharma Solutions for BASF North America. BASF says it has begun work to expand capacity by than 10% at its tablet more and finished drug formulations plant at Shreveport, LA, to meet an expected increase in demand.

The Shreveport plant's capacity will be expanded through installation of a machine that can produce 585,600 tablets/hour. It will be used to produce ibuprofen tablets in 200-, 400-, and 600-milligram doses. The …
