2004 NOV 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- INAMED Corporation (IMDC) reported that they are encouraged by results published in the October 1, 2004, issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology in which researchers at the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health, found no convincing evidence that silicone gel-filled breast implants have an effect on the development of subsequent connective tissue disorders.
The researchers used data from one of the largest studies on the long-term health effects of silicone gel-filled breast implants.
Scientists at NCI reviewed the medical records of nearly 7,200 women who had cosmetic breast implant surgery before 1989 and were studied in comparison to a cohort of women similar in age who had other types of plastic surgery.
