Oct. 21--LEXINGTON, N.C. -- Nevada has cheap land and no taxes, and Mexico, too. But in the end it was what other furniture companies left behind that lured a new employer to Davidson County.

Highly skilled furniture workers can be hard to find, said Zvone Ploi, a Slovenian immigrant who founded his high-end and custom furniture company, Ploi & Co., in Los Angeles 15 years ago.
