Oct. 21--If you can't find a flu shot today, just wait a week or so.
The Mecklenburg County Health Department has about 4,000 vaccine doses -- delivered last week after its original supply ran out -- and will offer them at several large, drive-through clinics over the next few weeks.
Details have not yet been worked out. But because of this year's vaccine shortage, the shots will be reserved for people at high risk for flu complications, including people over 65, children ages 6 months to 23 months, pregnant women and people with chronic illnesses.
"The difficulty lies in the logistics," said health department spokesman D.C. Lucchesi. "We're trying to get as much of this vaccine to as many of the eligible people as quickly as we can."
