Beretta lands Caddy ride
General Motors' Cadillac CTS-V Speed World Challenge team is fielding a third car for Olivier Beretta at Laguna Seca on Oct. 17. Beretta will join Max Angelelli and Andy Pilgrim in the other two Caddy racers. GM has put John Heinricy (Mid-Ohio), Ron Fellows (Mosport) and Johnny O'Connell (Road Atlanta) in a third entry this year. Beretta races a Corvette C5-R for GM in the American Le Mans Series. He has experience in karting, F3000 and Formula One, and has two FIA GT championships, two ALMS championships and three GTS-class wins at Le Mans.
Another Junior wins
Nelson Piquet Jr. won the British Formula 3 championship with a second-place result at Brands Hatch Oct. 3. At 19, Piquet is the youngest winner of the British title, and follows in the footsteps of his father, who was the 1978 champion and went on to claim F1 titles in 1981 and 1983 with Brabham.
Menu signs
Chevrolet Europe signed Alain Menu to race a works race car in the new-for-2005 World Touring Car Championship (Oct. 4). The 41-year-old Swiss is a two-time British Touring Car champion (1997 and 2000), and will drive one of Chevy's three cars, which will be built and operated by RML in the U.K.
