Oct. 15--TAMPA, Fla. -- The operators of the St. Pete Times Forum have rolled out several ticket deals to lure sports fans to tonight's preseason National Basketball Association game between the Shaquille O'Neal-led Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic.
Forum executives are offering buy-one, get-one-free ticket deals for active and retired military personnel and for Tampa Bay Lightning season-ticket holders. About 1,000 military personnel and season-ticket holders have bought tickets so far, Forum President Ron Campbell sai.
The Forum also offered a program for businesses to buy discounted tickets. The Forum helps give away the tickets to people who have worked on hurricane-relief efforts, Campbell said.
Up to 17,000 are expected at the Forum, which seats 21,000 for basketball. It's the first game for NBA superstar O'Neal as a Miami Heat player in Florida. The Forum paid an undisclosed amount to the Heat to play the game in Tampa, Campbell said. ...
