Oct. 14--New shipments of flu vaccine could give Alamance County a much-needed shot in the arm, but until then the area's clinics are short on supply.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working with Aventis Pasteur, the only manufacturer of flu shots at this time, to get 22.4 million doses to health workers who care for patients with high risk of flu-related complications.

North Carolina's health director announced Tuesday that 70,000 more doses of flu vaccine will arrive at county health departments.

That is welcome news over at the Alamance County Health Department, which only has 100 doses to offer…
