The US Congress has been asked by a group representing US business travellers to draw up emergency policies that would cover the US air industry if several major airlines were forced to go into liquidation.

The Business Travel Coalition said that without federal action right now if several airlines were to go out of business at the same time it would cause a 'catastrophic failure' of the industry.
