Oct. 13--The federal government announced a plan Tuesday to distribute the nation's scarce supply of flu vaccine to regions and medical offices that haven't received much of the vaccine.
Kelly Lobanov, spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Health, said the state expects to find out during the next several days how many doses Virginia will receive.
The state health department failed to receive 90 percent of what was ordered, Lobanov said. She expects the state to receive vaccine doses under the plan released by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and vaccine manufacturer Aventis Pasteur.
Meanwhile, the company that has been conducting flu vaccine clinics for Eckerd, Farm Fresh and some other stores has announced that the clinics will be conducted only through the end of the week. Any…
