FERRARIS AT LIME ROCK.(Revs)(Shell Historic Challenge)

** Earlier in the summer the verdant hills surrounding Lime Rock Park echoed with the battle cries of Maranello's finest. For fans of modern Ferrari hardware, nearly a dozen 360 Modenas ran two heats of the Ferrari 360 Challenge. If your idea of a proper Ferrari was something a bit older, the Ferrari Shell Historic Challenge provided a visual and aural indulgence that would make any fan of Enzo go weak in the knees.

The 360 Challenge, which had six races in North America, including stops in California, Georgia and Quebec, was sponsored by Ferrari dealers across the country. The final U.S. event, in Laguna Seca, was held during the big Ferrari bash at the Monterey Historics. The finale takes place later this month in Italy.

The Lime Rock 360 race saw Emmanuel Anassis eke out a 0.192-second victory over Jeff Segal after a half-hour of competition. Jim Kenton finished four seconds ahead of Anassis in the second heat. Second-generation Ferrari Challenge driver Bill Jennings II put his 360 in third for his first podium finish. Not a bad birthday present for this young hot shoe.
