Jan. 5--Thai shares gained 1.2 percent yesterday in active buying spurred by Thursday's gains on Wall Street.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand index closed at 315.73 points, up 3.68, in heavy turnover worth 18.6 billion baht.

The electronics sector, up by 9.48 percent , led gainers, while among the most active stocks, banks gained 0.02 percent and finance shed 0.38 percent.

Foreign investors were net buyers of shares worth 774.83 million baht, buying 3.35 billion and selling 2.58 billion. Local retail investors were net sellers of shares worth 1.029 billion baht, with total purchases of 14.1 billion and ...
