Jan. 3--Asean members must work harder to establish an electronic business community, as they are divided by a technology gap, according to a study by IBM, the computer industry giant.
The study shows that Singapore is the most advanced Asean member in development of electronic commerce and has the ability to use e-commerce as a tool to compete with global rivals.
But the newest members, Cambodia, Laos, Burma and Vietnam, are in the early stages of e-commerce and are only just developing a national information technology strategy.
