Property Fund Rules in Thailand to Be Eased to Spur Sales.
Feb. 1--The Finance Ministry has announced plans to ease regulations for property funds in a bid to increase investment and help spur a recovery for the real-estate sector.
Somkid Jatusripitak, finance minister and chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, said that the previous regulations led to higher costs and lower returns for the property funds.
The changes include scrapping maximum ownership limits in property funds for single investors, previously set at 10 percent.
Related parties and property owners are still restricted to no more than a 33 percent stake in the total units of a fund sold to the public.
