Feb. 1--Shares of finance companies dipped 1.06 percent yesterday after rumours spread in trading rooms that the Stock Exchange of Thailand was investigating four brokerages suspected of charging trading commissions below the minimum set level of 0.25 percent.

Sources said the four firms under scrutiny were KGI Securities (Thailand), ABN Amro Asia Securities, Seamico Securities and Kim Eng Securities.

Some securities firms that had lost big clients to the four brokerage houses questioned why the customers had moved their accounts.

Investors dumped shares in the four firms, on speculation that the SET would suspend their brokerage licences.
