2004 OCT 14 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Pioglitazone treatment improves insulin sensitivity, hyperandrogenism, and ovulation rates in women with polycystic ovary syndrome, study results show.
"Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by hyperandrogenism, chronic anovulation, and insulin resistance; long-term consequences include diabetes mellitus type 2," wrote N. Brettenthaler and colleagues, University Women's Hospital, Basel, Switzerland.
