Mar. 2--PTT Plc's net profit soared by 75.6 percent last year, spurred by a strongly performing natural gas business and profit from its flagship subsidiary.
PTT's net profit of 21.56 billion baht compared with 12.28 billion in 2000.
The company paid corporate tax of 1.2 billion baht for the fourth quarter, the period during which it was corporatised. Previously, as a state agency, PTT did not have to pay corporate tax.
Its consolidated revenue of 386.42 billion baht last year was up by 13.32 billion, or 3.6 percent, from the year before.
