PUTRAJAYA, Wed. - A Road Safety Department has been established under the Transport Ministry to focus on education and policy planning of road safety measures.
The new department will begin operations as soon as its director-general is appointed, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said today.
The department's broad objective is to reduce road deaths from 4.9 per 10,000 motor vehicles to less than two to be on par with most developed countries.
