Mar. 6--The government would lose 240 million baht in annual revenue if tax deductions for life insurance premiums were increased to 50,000 baht per taxpayer from 10,000 baht, a study has shown.
The Thai Life Assurance Association lodged its findings with the Commerce Ministry yesterday, saying that if the government had increased the deduction this year, it might have lost 1.5 billion baht. However, against that figure it would have collected 1.26 billion baht in tax from sales agents, company profits and returns on investment.
